Current situation : GAZA CITY, Jan 13, 2009 (AFP) – Israeli troops and Palestinian fighters fought fierce battles in the streets of Gaza City early Tuesday as a war on Hamas that has killed more than 900 Palestinians entered its 18th day.
While we are eating our Prosperity Burger Here, people in Palestine Have their Phosphorous white, served by the Israeli army. World watch in anger and to show it they demonstrate on the street burning the Israel flag. Donation are flowing around the globe but the food buy using the donation money have problem to get near the Palestinian coast. Both Hamas & Israel Army maybe among the toughest in the world. Israel Army don’t care about their army being captured as a hostage by Hamas and they will bombarded buildings where Israeli Army are captured kill their army with Hamas army in one package. Hamas is like everywhere to the Israeli Govt, and that’s why they attack everywhere from school, United Nations rep. building, hospital and mosque. When Hamas kept doing a press release that not many casualties on their side and still in control, the invaders will be more unsatisfied and go more deeper into Gaza residential area causing more civilian death.
Here many NGOs forcing people to boycott products that have link to the Israel or products that originate from United States of America. Now you can find many forward emails about companies & products that user must not buy. Among the product I can see some consumer products that have been used everyday since I was a kid like Nestle, Johnson & Johnson, McDonald and Kentucky Fried Chicken. Hey..I am no fan of Starbucks coffee or Coca Cola and can skip it at any time. Large companies like Nestle, McDonald and KFC are public listed companies and own by us the people because Government invest in them. Maybe large consumer related products from foreign country must have government equity because of some sensitive issues like Halal and Malaysian culture. Like Nestle Malaysia, it has been here for more than 90 years before independent and now 24% owned by local shareholders including Employee Provident Fund (EPF) and Lembaga Tabung Haji.
All of us that work contribute to EPF and Lembaga Tabung Haji (Muslim Pilgrimage Fund) use the dividend from Nestle to support Malaysian to go to Mecca. So there are some technical issues regarding boycotting companies like this. Furthermore KFC is owned by Johore State Government with famous figure on Islam Economic Jihad, Malaysia KFC President itself Tan Sri Mohd. Ali Hashim.
But we can think of long term vision to be less depend on foreign products. The technology are long been here, we just develop a products with similar quality to Nestle, McDonalds and KFC. We rule the world with it and make our nation proud to use it. As for the foreign products, maybe we can buy all their share in this country and Nationalized it.
Malaysia have many vision like to go to the Space and invest million of $RM just to sent 2 people to the moon and next time maybe own a rocket. I think before we go further to the moon or deep down to the sea, why not we start from what we eat everyday. If what we eat is still made by foreign company and the company dominated the whole nation market even a global player in that particular industry, we want to enter the outer space race?.
A simple thing like coffee can be International brand like Star Bucks, a burger and a fried chicken. I think it is not so hard to copy that success. To make a delicious fried chicken, we just need a chicken, frying pan, oil, herb and flour. No other fancy gadget or state of the art technological investment. To make the fried chicken an International brand, just added creativity and Innovation into the recipe…The rest goes to the people who cooked it.
Imagine Malaysian Brand Coke is everywhere in the world and surpassing the Coca Cola sales, with the support of all Muslim Countries, I think the impact would be better on pressuring the company that giving a portion of their annual sales to Israel.
Ahhh…now the Bushes was gone and we are eying on the new Barwreck Ohbummer!
