Now every employee talk about motivation, for that reason many company are selling the motivation. Yes we can buy motivation ranging from $100 to $1xxx depends on the speaker. So there are companies making money because the lack of motivation among us. Look likes every year there will be a motivation or a team building course. A very good demand indeed and every training consultant must have the motivation module when selling a course package.
But with all of this investment, people still want more money and more. The boss can’t blame the staff because the boss also running a money oriented company. That’s for a profit oriented. But for government sector, they are not motivate to work more than they use to because they will not paid extra. Just do what are your regular workload, punch the clock and go home for the next 30 years until you’ve got the pension. But at night they can end up selling fried banana at the street. In this case, it all goes back to making money for the individual.
At the end, money are the fastest way of making people motivated. People wont think so hard and so long why he must do the particular job if a lot of money waiting. But if we talk heaven and hell, helping the need or for the future of mankind depends on you, they might go home and think first of what are you offering to.
Back then, maybe 100 years ago, instead of craving for money, there are people who motivate themselves for a rewards. Rewards are not specific for money but have lot of interpretation. The Japanese are very motivated for the “Bravery Reward” so they should stampede an American ship to die for their country.
So what is you call for motivation? Money or Reward? ……………………………….
